Executive Members

Paula Friend

Paula Friend - Acting Chief Executive

Paula Friend joined the Trust in July 2003. She is responsible for operational capacity and demand and continued service development and improvement.

Bill Smith

Dr Bill Smith - Medical Director

Bill was appointed as medical director in 1999 and retired at the end of March 2005. He is a consultant radiologist. He was chairman of the clinical directorates board and a member of the governance committee and the finance committee.

Rob Pitcher Dr Rob Pitcher - Medical Director
Rob was appointed as medical director in April 2005 having formerly been assistant medical director and clinical director.  He is a consultant pathologist.  He is chairman of the clinical directorates board and a member of the governance and finance committees and the HR working group.
Denise Samuels

Denise Samuels - Director of Nursing
Denise has been director of nursing since 1995. She is a member of the HR working group and governance committee and is the Trust's lead on the development of patient and public participation.

Carrie Gilmore Carrie Gilmore - Director of Human Resources (health community)
Carrie joined the Trust in 2001. She has countywide responsibility for human resources and training for the NHS organisations in Cornwall. Carrie is a member of the Trust's HR working group and is executive lead for Improving Working Lives and equality and diversity issues.
Philip Madeley Philip Madeley - Director of Finance & IT
Philip joined the Trust in 1994. He is chairman of the charitable funds sub-committee and is a member of the finance committee and Cornwall Programme for IT implementation Board.

Mike Coupe

Mike Coupe - Director of Planning & Performance Management
Mike joined the Trust in 2001. He continues to lead the work on the development of long term plans for future investment in acute services in Cornwall.
Brian Milstead Brian Milstead - Chief executive (Resigned July 2006)
Brian has been chief executive since 1993 and is a member of the Joint Management Board of the Peninsula Medical School.  He is a member of the governance and remuneration committees and is an ex-officio of all Board committees and working groups.  Brian is a non-executive director of Cornwall MediPark Ltd.
   

Non-Executive Members

Angela Alderman Angela Alderman - Chair
Angela has been chair of the Trust since 1997. She chairs the governance and remuneration committees and is a member of the charitable funds committee. Angela also chairs the Arts steering group and is an ex-officio of all Board committees and working groups excepting the audit committee. 
Elizabeth Anne Malden Elizabeth Ann Malden
Elizabeth Ann has been a Board member since 1997. She lives at Lands End. Elizabeth Ann is chair of the audit committee and a member of the governance committee.
Ken Overshott Ken Overshott
Ken joined the Trust in February 2002. He lives at Tywardreath. He is a member of the audit, governance and remuneration committees. He has been a convenor for independent review panels. He has special responsibility for equality and diversity and is a lay member of the blood transfusion committee.
Harold Chapman

Harold Chapman
Harold joined the Trust in February 2002. He lives at Wadebridge. He is a chair of the finance committee and a member of the charitable funds committee. Harold has a special interest in security and violence in the workplace and is a member of the security and crime prevention forum.

Dsvid Fyer

David Fryer
David joined the Trust in 1997. He lives near St Austell. He is a member of the finance, governance and remuneration committees and is chair the HR working group. He has been a convenor for independent review panels.

Vanessa Moore Vanessa Moore
Vanessa joined the Trust in October 2003. She lives at St Just. Vanessa is a member of the HR working group and the audit committee and also represents the Board on the Improving Working Lives group. She also has a special interest in patient and public involvement and liaison with the Patient Forum.
Colin Roberts

Colin Roberts

Colin joined the Trust as a non-executive director in September 2003. He lives at St Buryan. Colin is a member of the finance and audit committees. He has a special responsibility for disability issues across the Trust and chairs the new Multidisciplinary Education and Training Alliance. Colin is also a member of the Well Cornwall
